Amazon device deals, sorted from the damn permanent sale
Amazon's own gadgets are discounted so often that full price has become a rumour. An Echo or a Fire TV Stick seems to be on "sale" most weeks of the year, which makes the badge close to meaningless — but it also means genuinely low prices come around more often here than almost anywhere. The trick is telling a real low from the usual discount, and that is exactly the comparison we make.
How we score Amazon devices
Because these devices discount so routinely, the ordinary sale price is already baked into their 90-day history, so a device has to fall meaningfully below where it has actually been selling to score well. This department gets a higher minimum drop than most for the same reason. Every device is judged against its own history — a Kindle against that Kindle, not against the lineup — and bundles are separate listings scored on their own.

Questions
When are Amazon devices cheapest?
Amazon's own devices typically see their deepest discounts around Prime Day and Black Friday, with smaller promotions throughout the year. The rest of the year, a "sale" is often just the usual price.
Is an Echo on sale actually a deal?
Because Amazon devices are discounted so frequently, a sale price is only meaningful if it falls below the device's own recent selling prices. Most weeks, it doesn't.
Are device bundles better value?
A bundle is its own listing with its own price history, so it is scored separately from the individual devices it contains. Only buy the bundle if you want every damn thing in it.
