Home deals that aren't just a damn strikethrough

Furniture and home decor is the department where the reference price does the heaviest lifting and the least honest work. A bookshelf listed at $200, sold at $89, permanently. A rug at "70% off" that has never once been sold at full price. Home and furniture listings show inflated reference prices more often than most Amazon departments, because the products are less directly comparable and shoppers have weaker price memory. You know what a can of beans costs. You have no damn idea what a console table costs. That gap is the whole business model, and we score straight through it.

How we score home

Home goods turn over quickly, with brands and model numbers churning frequently, which makes long price histories rarer here than in electronics. So we lean harder on rarity — how unusual a discount this size is for this specific product in the time we've actually been watching it. Where a product has thin history, it needs a deeper drop to score the same. We also weight sales rank heavily, because the home department carries an unusually high proportion of low-volume white-label listings. A damn good price on something nobody buys isn't news.
