Gifts between $10 and $20, and what they damn well cost the rest of the year

Twenty dollars is the most-searched gift budget there is, and it is the band where the gap between "cheap" and "well priced" is widest. A twenty-dollar thing that has sold for twenty dollars every week since March is not a gift bargain. It is damn inventory.

This page starts at ten dollars rather than at zero, and that is deliberate. A list that mixes a $2 keyring in with a $19 gift is not answering either damn question properly, and the sub-ten band behaves differently enough to deserve its own page. Below ten, go there.

What the $10 to $20 band actually behaves like

Two things reliably happen in this band. It is the deepest band for discount frequency, because it is where volume sellers compete hardest, and it is the band where a discount is most likely to be permanent. A product that has been "30% off" here since spring is simply priced at the damn sale price.

The band also thins out in November and refills in January, which is the opposite of what most people expect and is why a December gift at this budget is usually a worse buy than the same gift in February.
