We score each listing against its own last 90 days of prices, not against the sticker, so a set that has "been" $49.99 and sold for $22 all summer scores nothing at $22. Crafts is thick with near-identical listings — the same 24-colour paint set under a dozen damn brand names — so sales rank does real work: a drop on something almost nobody buys has to be much deeper to qualify than a drop on a top seller.
